From Artist Miguel Heredia.

There is over 15 years of work on this web site. 15 years of putting these images on paper,15 years of beating up my demons! I am blessed with this talent, no doubt about that. Like it or not...these images are crazy and fun. No redeeming value what so ever besides pure entertainment. No social comments, just skulls, demons, zombies and robot chicks with big tits. A lot of it from commercial projects, some of it just for me. The things I liked as a boy growing up in Brooklyn, the things I would get lost in and forget about outside. Add a quart of early punk and metal music, 2 liters 80's Heavy Metal Magazine, 1/2 a pound of Rat Fink , Pushead, Mortedelo y Filemon and 1/5 of Hammer Studio flicks and you get Miguel Heredia's Hard Grafixs. Don't be alarmed of the frantic detailing (never enough!) and the subject matter, it's not real...see it's a drawing...from my imagination, a still frame of something fantastic and fun. Like I said, I am blessed.

Thanks and Enjoy,

Miguel Heredia

Nice things good people have said about MH.

"Miguel Heredia is one of those rare finds thats flows from the dark of the unknown to surprise and delight. We were lucky enough to catch the scent of him in the wind, When we visited his den of design, we were amazed at the multitude of exquisite creations from this prolific illustrator. The bold and expressive strokes with which he captures monsters of mythical proportions burn into the mind. Somewhere, within his human frame, is contained a beast yearning for freedom. Until its escape from the fragile condition of confinement, the pen is it's outlet."

Miguel Heredia Interview @ ROI Designs Magazine.

What inspired you to do Graphic Design?
Nothing really, I kind of fell into it. I studied illustration and art when I was in college. I figured
as long as I was in the creative field, I could call myself an artist, so I took a chance when the
opportunity arose. I have no formal graphic design training!

2: Do you have your first image you created? Tell us about that.
Nope. I have been drawing since I can remember. I used to draw superhero comics and give the drawings away when I was a kid.

3: Do you have a favorite artist?
I have a lot of favorite artists. For Fine Arts Egon Shielde is one of my favorites. His work is exquisite.
Salvador Dali is also one of my favorites. More Contemporary artist's like Robert Williams, Ralph
Steadman and Francisco Ibanez.

4: Do you have a favorite place on the web? And why?
Yeah, all of my web sites.:). I just love the web ,period. I did a three year stint as a web designer and now find it invaluable when it comes to research and promoting.

5: How did you learn to do what you do?
Like I said, I have been an artist since I was a kid. That's all I ever wanted to be...creative. The graphic
design aspect was learned on the job the hard way. There is nothing like real world experience when it
comes to getting the job done.

6: What was the hardest thing you had to overcome doing Graphic Design?
Being able to listen and not be so artsy fartsy when it comes to clients. When people are looking to sell a product, they don't want art Jargon.

7: If you could teach someone to do what you do, what would be the most important issue and why?
Perseverance, you can be a good artist, but without discipline and sticking to your guns
you will get nowhere. Attitude helps..(good attitude) and self confidence. Remember: your
talented...make other people believe the same.

8: What do you want people to see when they look at your artwork?
Wonder what's going on. Make them think...WTF. Because there's something happening to the piece on the whole...but there's also something happening in the upper right corner or the left side. Not to tell a story, but for people to come away with there own. Let them use their imagination as well.

9: If I gave you a square, tell me what you would do with it within your artwork.
Distort it.:)

10: Does music, moods, environment have a lot to do with your artwork?
For sure! I am an old school punk and metal head...I no longer look the part but it is a heavy influence on me. Also my upbringing in Brooklyn, NY where you can be a part of everything at any given time.
When I  get down to work, my studio is my little world. The walls are plastered with Projects, freelance gigs and sketches. Also images that just tweak me and the music goes from Metal, Punk, Rap, Electronica, techno...etc..etc. Hanging around the right people is also Key, it's always a good thing to be around other creatives to bounce stuff off of.

Thanks for the interview. Keep it up and get what you want. - Miguel Heredia
